  • Search your name. You need to know if someone is talking about you. People will tweet asking for information. If someone mentions your name they become a potential customer and a great lead.
  • Search your company. If someone is discussing your company name they may be a good lead or it could be an early warning if there’s a problem.
  • Search your product. If somebody is searching for the widget you sell then again they are a good lead. Or perhaps their search can give you some insight to your competition.
  • Search your competitors name or product. You can research your competition. Listen to what people are saying about your competitor.
  • Search for like-minded people. Use Twitter to begin to network to generate a new circle of business contacts. Your niche, city, state or anything else that may help you find contacts.
  • Search for complementary offers. If you are an article author who can’t design a webpage then search for web designers. Offer a win-win situation.
  • Focus your twitter search. Let Twitter build your customer base and increase your profits.



    One of the best and easiest ways to make money online is affiliate marketing. And a great way to make sales is by using social sites such as Twitter. Here are 7 tips that affiliate marketers should remember.

  • Be personal with your tweets. Don’t just repeat the same tweets over and over to different people. If people are tweeting about a certain holiday don’t just tweet “Hey, shop at my site”. Tweets should be personal, not canned.
  • Don’t be something you’re not. Be genuine in your tweets. With enough interesting tweets people will click on your profile and go to your website.
  • If you do tweet a sales link then make sure it’s a natural part of the conversation. Eventually people become curious and they will follow your link or they will eventually ask you what you do.
  • Never send a direct link to your product. Make sure the link goes to a squeeze page or your blog. Being blatant about trying to get a sale will usually fail.
  • Try to be helpful. Try to be part of the community and take the time to tweet about others. It can’t always be about you.
  • Involve your followers. Ask thier opinion. Or ask their advice on a matter. Show them that you respect them.
  • Moderation, moderation and more moderation. Don’t tweet about everything you do. Most people aren’t interested in knowing what you do 24/7.

  • Always thank everyone who follows you, but you don’t have to give them a sales pitch in the process. There’s only one first impression. Make your thank you honest and non-commercial.

  • Don’t send stupid tweets. You will lose followers if you tweet 20 times a day about walking your dog. One tweet about your dog is fine but 20 tweets about your dog probably isn’t.

  • Don’t send three or more tweets in a 15 minute time span. Most people find it very annoying to visit twitter and see a long list of tweets by the same person. That’s called a Twitter Wedgie.

  • Make your tweets interesting. Your local weather, maybe some kind of trivia or an interesting website that you discovered. Remember that twitter is family oriented so keep it at least PG13.
  • Allow your list to evolve naturally. You don’t have to have 10,000 followers by the end of day one. It’s far better to add smaller numbers and have more quality instead of thinking “bigger is better”. Some people will take that as a red flag and not follow.
  • It’s okay to use twitter for traffic generation to your webpage. And an occasional tweet when you update your blog or an occasional tweet when you are offering a special deal is okay. Most people won’t consider that spamming in any way. But be careful, a little goes a long way.
