Keeping Your Twitter Traffic Twitterific
Always thank everyone who follows you, but you don’t have to give them a sales pitch in the process. There’s only one first impression. Make your thank you honest and non-commercial.
Don’t send stupid tweets. You will lose followers if you tweet 20 times a day about walking your dog. One tweet about your dog is fine but 20 tweets about your dog probably isn’t.
Don’t send three or more tweets in a 15 minute time span. Most people find it very annoying to visit twitter and see a long list of tweets by the same person. That’s called a Twitter Wedgie.
Make your tweets interesting. Your local weather, maybe some kind of trivia or an interesting website that you discovered. Remember that twitter is family oriented so keep it at least PG13.
Allow your list to evolve naturally. You don’t have to have 10,000 followers by the end of day one. It’s far better to add smaller numbers and have more quality instead of thinking “bigger is better”. Some people will take that as a red flag and not follow.
It’s okay to use twitter for traffic generation to your webpage. And an occasional tweet when you update your blog or an occasional tweet when you are offering a special deal is okay. Most people won’t consider that spamming in any way. But be careful, a little goes a long way.
